18. Information booklet for political parties, social and minority organisations and independent candidates regarding the election of mayors, local and minority representatives in 1994
In the Hungarian election system, settlements with different number of inhabitants have different election systems. At settlements with lower number of population those who win the most ballots will become representatives. At larger settlements, (over 10,000 inhabitants) representatives are elected in one of two ways. Either from a single mandate constituency within the settlement, or from a list. Furthermore, either as independent candidates, or candidates supported by political parties. The booklet provides political parties, social and minority organisations and independent candidates with information on the election teams’ activity. It provides detailed information on the participation of national and ethnic minorities in the local elections. It contains technical descriptions related to nomination, aggregation of ballots and ascertaining results of the local elections of 1994.
