Dear Voter

In Hungary the election of the members of the European Parliament will presumably take place on 13 June 2004 (Sunday).

You have a registered domicile on the territory of the Republic of Hungary so you have the option to exercise your right to vote in Hungary. It means that you may cast your vote on the lists set up by political parties in Hungary.

You can notify your intention to vote in Hungary before 30 April 2004 to the head of the local election office operated at the mayor's office of your domicile. In order to enroll you into the voters register, you are requested to fill the attached form and forward it personally or by mail to the mayor's office of your domicile. If you miss the deadline you may not exercise your right to vote in Hungary.

The head of the local election office will adjudge to enroll you into the register before 4 May 2004 and will immediately inform you about it. The National Election Office will inform the Member State, which you are the citizen of accordingly, you will be cancelled from the voters register in your country.

Simultaneously with enrolling you into the voters register your data will be recorded in the central register maintained by the Central Data Processing, Registration and Election Office of the Ministry of the Interior. This register ensures that you will be able to vote in Hungary at European Parliamentary elections in the future without any further application.

Later if you intend to exercise your right to vote outside Hungary - at your written request - your data will be deleted from the register.

We call your attention that the official certificate made out of your domicile in Hungary you shall present to the ballot counting committee. In default of it the ballot counting committee may not permit voting.
